Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 15, 2026

SmileLedger is designed to keep personal dental information private. The developer does not collect, receive, sell, rent, or use personal data from the app.

Privacy at a glance

✓Stored on your deviceDental records, photos, documents and analysis results remain in local app storage.
✓No iCloud storageSmileLedger does not use iCloud synchronization, and its local dental-data directory is excluded from device backups.
✓No trackingThe app contains no advertising, tracking or third-party analytics SDKs.

1. Data stored on your device

Dental records, tooth statuses, treatment history, symptom notes, oral self-check results, attachments, documents, and oral photos are stored locally on the user’s device with Apple’s SwiftData technology.

SmileLedger does not upload this information to a developer-operated server or synchronize it through iCloud. The local data directory is excluded from device backups so that this dental information is not stored in iCloud Backup.

Users can delete all app data from Settings inside SmileLedger. This action requires two confirmations and cannot be undone. Deleting the app also removes its locally stored app data, subject to the device’s operating-system behavior.

2. Camera and on-device analysis

Camera access is optional and is used only when the user starts an AI Photo Check. Photos and analysis results remain on the device. Apple Vision, Core Image, and the on-device Foundation Models framework process limited visual signals locally. SmileLedger does not send photos or results to an external AI provider or to the developer.

The AI Photo Check is a general-purpose visual aid, not a diagnosis or medical device. It cannot confirm or rule out disease and does not replace examination or treatment by a qualified dentist.

3. Apple Health

Apple Health integration is optional and requires the user’s permission. SmileLedger reads and writes only toothbrushing events to show daily brushing progress and save completed brushing sessions.

The app does not transfer treatment records, symptom notes, tooth statuses, attachments, or oral photos to Apple Health. Health data is not sent to the developer and is not used for advertising or marketing.

Apple Health permissions can be changed at any time in the Health app or iOS Settings.

4. Notifications

If the user grants permission, SmileLedger schedules local reminders for oral self-checks and planned dental visits. These notifications are generated on the device and do not require a developer server.

5. External links

SmileLedger includes fixed links to public information from organizations such as the World Health Organization, FDI World Dental Federation, NICE, and the Mouth Cancer Foundation.

Opening an external website is subject to that website’s own privacy practices. SmileLedger does not receive information about your activity on those websites.

6. Tracking, advertising and analytics

SmileLedger contains no advertising SDK, tracking technology, third-party analytics SDK, or cross-app tracking. The developer does not create advertising profiles or sell personal information.

7. Children

SmileLedger is not directed specifically to children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children or adults.

8. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when the app’s functionality or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top of the policy will be updated when changes are published.
